Hello Panthers! My name is Mrs. Sparks and I am excited to be a part of the Panther community as a 3rd grade teacher! This will be my 4th year at Pittman and my 8th year teaching for CCSD. I completed 1 year of student teaching in Houston, Texas prior to moving to Las Vegas. I graduated from UNLV in 2023 with a M.Ed in English Language Learning. I love helping students realize their potential and add value to their lives in some small way. When I am not in the classroom I am spending time with family. At home, my husband and I like to work on projects together. We love watching sports and our favorite time of the year is football season! When I have the time you will find me visiting family in Kentucky, Texas and New York. I also love unique coffee shops, book stores and nature walks.

Hello Panthers! This is my fourth year teaching third grade at Vail Pittman! My classroom is my “happy place” where I can support my students as they grow as readers, thinkers and friends. I taught for over 25 years in California and Connecticut before moving to Las Vegas in 2022 to live nearer to family on the west coast. I received my teaching certificate from the University of California at Davis (Go Aggies!) and a masters degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut (Go Stags!). When I am not teaching or lesson planning you can find me spending time with my husband, kids, grandkids and our Schnoodle dog, Aggie. My favorite things besides third graders are reading and writing books, country music, walks and water aerobics class.

Hi! My name is Ms. Mendoza, and I’m so excited to be teaching third grade at Pittman Elementary this year. This is my second year teaching third grade, and I absolutely love watching my students grow both academically and personally throughout the year. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, and I love creating a classroom where every student feels included, encouraged, and inspired to do their best. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my son, finding new coffee shops, and reading.

I look forward to getting to know my students and their families this year and working together to make it a year full of learning, laughter, and success.
