Hello Panthers! This is my fifth year teaching at Vail Pittman! This year, however, I'm excited to return to the second grade. My classroom is my “happy place” where I can support my students as they grow as readers, thinkers and friends. I taught for over 25 years in California and Connecticut before moving to Las Vegas in 2022 to live nearer to family on the west coast. I received my teaching certificate from the University of California at Davis (Go Aggies!) and a masters degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut (Go Stags!). When I am not teaching or lesson planning you can find me spending time with my husband, kids, grandkids and our Schnoodle dog, Aggie. My favorite things besides second and third graders are reading and writing books for children, country music, travelling and water aerobics class.

I am very excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year! This will be my eigth year teaching at Pittman! 2nd grade is a fun time where students start becoming more independent as they master new skills. 2nd grade is a great year full of new friends, new adventures, and new discoveries. In my classroom your child is cared about. I value their ideas, thoughts, and actions. They have unique talents and strengths and I can’t wait for them to share with their classmates. They will each bring so much to our class and I can’t wait to learn more about them! I believe that parent, teacher, and student communication is the most crucial component for a successful school year filled with academic and personal growth. A little bit about me. I have a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Education in Learning and Technology. In 2002, I moved to Las Vegas with my family. I have a son who is going to college. Few things I like are chocolate, coffee, traveling and watching my favorite shows. I look forward to getting to know you throughout this year! Feel free to email me whenever you have a question!
