Andrea Bermudez
Hi, my name is Andrea Bermudez and excited to teach Kindergarten this year. I have been an Early Childhood Educator for the past 25 years. Most of my time has been spent teaching Pre-K. This is my 9th year at Pittman and my first year in Kindergarten. Teaching in early childhood is what I love and so much fun. I enjoy singing and dancing in the classroom to help students experience different ways to help them learn. The early years are so important and build their education foundation. Working with the young students helps to keep young at heart.
I am originally from Kansas and taught Pre-K for most of the 8 years I was in the district. I graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood. In my free time, I enjoy running and taking my daughter’s dog, Willow, for walks. My two favorite things to do is to curl read and bake, especially cookies.
I am looking forward to a great year and watching the growth of the students throughout the school year.
Selena Lopez
Hello! My name is Miss. Lopez and I am so excited to be part of the Pittman team. This will be my second year teaching kindergarten. I graduated from UNLV with my bachelors in Early Childhood Education in 2020. My favorite part of teaching is seeing those AHA! moments in the classroom. The moment when concepts click and the student is so excited and proud of themselves… is just priceless! Some of my favorites (outside of the classroom ) are painting, reading, playing video games, and listening to music. I recently got engaged in New York to my high school sweetheart. We have a beautiful and sassy cockatiel named Zara. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for all of us at Pittman !
Shareen Viernes
Aloha! My name is Ms. Viernes, I was born and raised on Maui and moved to Las Vegas in 2004. I have a fiancé named Jay, a step-daughter named Scarlett (8), and a fur-baby named Shadow. I have a BA in Communication Studies and am working towards my M. Ed in Elementary Education. This will be my first year teaching Kindergarten at Vail Pittman Elementary. Some things I love are pizza, sushi, M&M’s, any and all dessert, the beach, and American football. My drink of choice is coffee, tea, and water. I love to read, my favorite book is the Harry Potter Series and anything by The Fan Brothers; I also enjoy a good historical fiction novel. One of the reasons why I love teaching, is knowing that in some small way I am making a difference. I think that one of the most rewarding things about teaching is being able to help students realize their potential. I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us, so let’s have a fantastic learning year!!!
Laura Reynolds
Hello Panthers. My name is Laura Reynolds. Welcome to Kindergarten. This will be my 8th year here at Pittman Elementary but my first year teaching Kindergarten here. Previously I taught 7 years in the Pre-k Program. Kindergarten is not new for me though. I am a native Californian and attended college to receive my BA and MS in education. During my time in California, I taught many years in Kindergarten along with adult school and an afterschool high schoolprogram for students to make up courses in order to graduate. I love teaching young students because you can see their growth and love for learning. I have 4 daughters who are all married and recently my 9th grandson was added to my family. (Hopefully one day I will have a grand daughter) I have been in Vegas since March of 2016. I live with my 2 dogs who keep me up and moving early in the mornng till late at night. I find myself reading, watching movies and walking to keep my mind relaxed after a busy day. And, when time, I love to visit my daughters, grandsons and mom, all who live in different states. Again... Welcome to kindergarten and let's have an exciting year!!
