Hello Panthers! My name is Monique Lewis and I am so excited to be joining this amazing community as a 4th grade teacher! I am born and raised in Las Vegas and a product of CCSD. My Bachelor's degree is in Elementary education and Special Education. Go Lopes! This will be my 3rd year teaching, I taught 1 year in kindergarten ,1 year in 3rd grade, and now I am excicted to join the 4th grade team.

I am married to an amazing man, Dee, and we have 6 awesome children, 3 of which are 2024 high school graduates. One of the graduates will be heading off to college this fall to pursue a degree in business ,which we are excited about . In my free time I like to be outdoors and spending time with my family .

I believe that school should be a safe and fun experience. I love to create an environment where all students feel supported and where it is truly their happy place. I believe that when I build relationships with my students and capture their hearts, then I can go on to capture their minds. I love to utilize cooperative learning strategies and have the kiddos moving around as much as possible, all while learning even when they don’t realize it! I cannot wait to spend this year with you all and I know that it will be fabulous!!

Hi everyone! My name is Courtney Kirwan and this is my fifth year teaching 4th grade at Vail Pittman Elementary School. I was born and raised in Henderson, Nevada and take pride in being a local to this great city. I attended UNLV to earn my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and my Masters Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. When I’m not teaching, I love to be around my fiancé, family and friends, do yoga, be out in nature, travel, go out to eat, and watch my favorite T.V shows. My favorite place to travel is Hawaii where I have visited 7 times!
I became a teacher because I adore working with children and I want to make a difference in our future generations. My goal is to create a safe space in the classroom for students to learn, have fun, and grow academically and personally.

Hello 4th grade families! I am excited to be teaching at Pittman again this year! 4th grade is a fun year where we get to discover our unique perspectives. My classroom is built upon honesty, perseverance, and respect. This mindset will help ensure we can find ways to support each other through any challenge that may come our way. Outside of teaching I love Disney, video games, new foods, and spending time with family. My son was born in 2022 and he has already changed my perspective on so many things. I also have 2 dogs at home. As we navigate 4th grade it's important to reflect on what we accomplish and continuously push ourselves to do better. Each of you will bring a unique perspective and experiences to our classroom. We all have a story to tell and I can't wait to hear about yours!

Hi, my name is Khivani Young, and this is my second year teaching at Pittman, I previously taught 3rd grade! I'm originally from Los Angeles but moved to Dallas,Texas for about 10 years, before moving here to Vegas to finish my Bachelor's in Fine Arts from UNLV and to be closer to family. When I'm not teaching you can find me creating art, whether that is designing new characters or writing! I’m a big concert person, so, if I’m not planning my next trip, I’m spending time with my loved ones or my pets. I have and ES dog, Phineas, and a pet cockatiel, called Pigeon.

I recently completed my MA program in Education, so I’m looking forward to applying my newfound knowledge to the classroom and growing the wonderful and expansive minds of my students this year!
