Greetings! My name is Mrs. Chu, and I absolutely love being a Panther! This will be my 12th year as a Teacher, and my 9th year at Pittman Elementary School. I am passionate about helping teachers find the best resources and most engaging activities for students, and enjoy getting to help ALL Panthers at this school.
I started my teaching career in East Los Angeles, California working in Early Childhood Special Education, and was so sad when I had to leave, but quickly found that I loved working in Vegas. I received my Bachelors Degree in Instructional Pedagogy, then went on to receive my Masters Degree Cum Laude with special Presidential recognition in Special Education, Early Childhood. My goal has always been to be there for student learning, and what a better opportunity than to do it on a school-wide level!
I married my wonderful husband Jeffrey in 2017, and we love traveling abroad, hanging out with friends and living life! My favorite places I've traveled to are Austria, Philippines, Tokyo, and Spain! Some of my hobbies are creating teaching resources, photography/ videography, sewing and shopping! I absolutely love being part of the Pittman Family and can't wait for another amazing year! "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." -Henry B. Adams
I have been an educator in the district with 13 years of experience. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of all levels, from elementary to high school, adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of my students. I am excited about my 6th year, here at Pittman!

Hi Pittman Family! My name is Heather Mangham, better known as Ms. M. This will be my 16th year teaching and my 11th year teaching at Pittman! I truly love working with the students, families, and staff at Pittman. I have held many positions over the years, this year I am excited to be your child's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Teacher. I moved to Las Vegas 17 years ago from Northern California, where I grew up. I have two wild and crazy children, Luke who is 11 and Jessica who is 6. When I am not at school, I love to bake, hike, skate, dance, travel, go to amusement parks and hang out with my kids. I am so excited for what this new school year holds for ALL of the Pittman Panthers! “Take Chances. Make mistakes. Get messy!”- Miss Frizzle
Hello Pittman Panthers! I am Mr. Henley and I am excited to begin my second year of teaching at Vail Pittman as a Music Specialist. I was born and raised in Las Vegas and graduated from UNLV with my Bachelor’s of Music in Education in 2023, and before that, I attended CSN where I graduated with my Associates of Arts degree. As a teacher, I hope to create a space where all students feel welcome and valued. In my classroom, students will be encouraged to express themselves and explore their creativity in a safe and caring environment. Outside of teaching, I enjoy gardening, eating, and traveling. I look forward to meeting and making music with you all!
Hi everyone! I am Mrs. Sly and I am the librarian here at Pittman. This is my 21st year teaching and my 15th year in the library. Reading books is my favorite activity. I love recommending books to students and learning what books they love as well. In the library, students will engage in literacy and technology lessons. Students will read and check out books. They will also use their Chromebooks to develop their research and coding skills. Even kindergarteners! It is my hope that students find that love of reading books and using technology as a tool to help them grow as learners.
Hello! My name is Jessie Zimmerman but everyone calls me Mr. Z! I teach K-5 Health and PE at Vail Pittman ES; I am going into my 5th year and loving every minute of it! In my class your students will get the chance to learn the skills to do many life long activities that will help them stay active for a lifetime.
